Home with no working smoke alarms catches fire, displacing 7

NORFOLK — Seven people were displaced from their Norfolk home when it caught fire Monday morning.

The house, located in the 200 block of West 28th Street, was home to three adults and four children. The two-story duplex had no working smoke alarms when it caught fire around 10 a.m., according to Norfolk Fire-Rescue.

No one was injured in the fire, but the house was significantly damaged on the first and second floors.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
