VIRGINIA BEACH – A Connecticut restaurant favorite has opened a location at Lynnhaven Mall, and they’re focusing on Virginia staples in their food and drink menus.

Maggie McFly’s, which boasts a menu with more than 175 food options, plans to use Virginia farm fresh, grass-fed beef and other food products.

When it comes to drinks, owner and founder Raymond Harper said it will feature locally sourced beer and liquor to round out an offering of more than 50 craft beers, a bevy of single malt scotches, small batch bourbons and wines.

Established in 1993, the restaurant will serve everything from fresh pizzas, burgers, salads, pasta and seafood.

“Our philosophy is to find or develop delicious and innovative recipes and serve them to the dining public at reasonable prices,” Harper said in a news release. “People should not have to go to a pricey seafood restaurant to enjoy fresh salmon cooked to perfection on a cedar plank, or to a high-end Italian restaurant to enjoy fresh pasta.”

Named after mythical aviator Maggie McFly, the restaurant captures her spirit by “circumnavigating the globe in search of the best food and drink.”

Popular menu items include bang bang shrimp and chicken from Thailand, spicy latino hanger steak from Cuba and sausage cavatelli with broccolini and sundried tomatoes from northern Italy.

Of the Virginia Beach location, Harper said this: “I believe that we fit into a niche the restaurant-goers in Virginia Beach will truly appreciate. Unlike national chains, we can purchase from and cultivate relationships with smaller, local purveyors that are always striving to provide the best ingredients.”
