Former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina has joined the ranks of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, according to a news release.

The former Hewlett-Packard chief executive joins the Foundation’s board of trustees along with Optimal Service Group of Wells Fargo Advisors Managing Director Joseph W. Montgomery and retired Caterpillar, Inc. Group President Gerald L. Shaheen.

“Like no other institution, Colonial Williamsburg preserves and shares the sites and stories of America’s establishment and ideals, and I’m thrilled to be a part of its critical mission,” Fiorina said in the release.

Fiorina and her husband moved to Lorton, in Fairfax County, in 2011 after losing a bid to unseat California’s Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer. Fiorina ran for president of the United States in the 2016 election.

In February, Fiorina told a Portsmouth-based radio show she is considering challenging Virginia’s Democratic Senator and former vice presidential hopeful Tim Kaine in 2018.

Fiorina, Montgomery and Shaheen join dozens of other members of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, a private, not-for-profit educational institution that receives no regular state or federal funding, according to its website.

“Colonial Williamsburg is at a pivotal moment as we work to engage new audiences and to ensure our treasured institution’s long-term health,” Mitchell B. Reiss, president and CEO of Colonial Williamsburg said in the release. “With the support of leaders like Carly, Joe and Gerry we can be confident that we will make the right decisions now for the future of the Foundation, its mission and our community.”
