Navy SEAL killed in Somalia was earning business degree from W&M

A Navy SEAL killed during an operation in Somalia Friday was working toward a master’s degree from William and Mary’s Raymond A. Mason School of Business, according to a statement released by the college. 

Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator Kyle Milliken, 38, was killed in action Friday, about 40 miles west of Mogadishu during an operation against the East Africa-based jihadist group Al-Shabaab.

“He served his country with great distinction,” William and Mary President Taylor Reveley said in a statement. “We extend our deep sympathies to Kyle’s family and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.”

According to the Department of Defense, Milliken was originally from Falmouth, Maine, but was assigned to a special warfare unit in Virginia Beach. He was also taking online courses at William and Mary. 

Milliken was in his second semester at the Mason School of Business, according to a statement from the college.
