Jobs, skills training programs coming to Norfolk

NORFOLK – Starting next month, the city will hold training programs for residents looking for a new job or wanting to brush up on their skills.

The Pathway to Prosperity Job Skills Training & Job Fair will offer four training programs that will cover interview techniques, resume prep and how to navigate a job fair.

The first training program will take place on Monday, May 15 at the Huntersville Neighborhood Service Center. On June 1, the Scope will host 75 local employers at a job fair.

“This is civic engagement at its best,” said Mayor Kenny Alexander in a news release. “Working with the Pastors’ Coalition, we are reaching into the community and empowering people to take steps to improve their lives for themselves and their families. The workshops and job fair will put people on the right path for success.”

Three additional programs will run each day, from May 16–18. Residents can register for each event online.
