VIRGINIA BEACH — A 33-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting his date, and possibly using drugs and alcohol to do it.
Jesse Michael “DJ Chino” Lui, of the 400 block of South Military Highway, was arrested and charged with forcible sodomy and object penetration on Feb. 24.
The charges came about a month after a woman told police that Lui sexually assaulted her while they were on a date, according to documents filed in Virginia Beach Circuit Court.
The woman didn’t know Lui when she caught his eye on Jan. 13 at Spade, a club located at 6301 Holland Road. The pair didn’t talk while they were at the bar, but Lui found the victim using Instagram and asked her to text him.
The pair texted and decided to meet up on Jan. 17 at Lui’s house where they had drinks that he mixed. Lui asked the victim to try two different flavors of alcohol he’d mixed, and tried both, court documents state.
After drinking, the pair went out for several hours. When they came back to Lui’s apartment they went upstairs and kissed.
The woman doesn’t remember much about the night, but she told police that Lui tried to perform oral sex on her in the kitchen. She told him no and pushed him away before blacking out, according to court documents.
The woman also told police she remembers waking up partially naked in Lui’s bathroom. She was throwing up into the toilet while Lui, who was naked, touched her. She told him to stop before blacking out again.
When she woke up, she was in Lui’s bed. She began throwing up into a trash can, and Lui started to put her clothes back on her before dressing himself, court documents state.
Lui took the woman to her car, which was parked in front of his apartment building, where she passed out. She woke up when a stranger began knocking on her car window.
She told police she didn’t know if she and Lui had sex, but believes it may have happened while she was unconscious. She went to Riverside Hospital the next day where a rape kit was administered, according to court documents.
The woman said that she is a social drinker and that the amount of alcohol she had with Lui wouldn’t normally make her as intoxicated as she was that night. She also said she’d had a big lunch before she’d gotten to his apartment, and that he’d prepared a drink for himself before she arrived.
An officer who filed a search warrant for Lui’s apartment in February wrote that Lui may have given the woman a high level of alcohol or laced the drinks with drugs. During the search, police found a green tube, three bottles of vodka and a plastic bag with white residue, court documents state.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Lui’s case on April 21 in Virginia Beach General District Court.
