Norfolk, FBI to host active shooter preparedness training

NORFOLK – On Saturday, April 8, the city, along with the FBI, will host an active shooter preparedness training.

The event is meant to “enhance community preparedness by providing training and resources to to help citizens prepare for and respond to an active shooter incident,” according to a news release from the city.

As part of the training, attendees will learn about possible indicators and the need for a coordinated response by law enforcement and others to save lives. A panel will detail the importance of law enforcement and community members working together in the event of an active shooter.

The free training will be given at the Norfolk Fire Rescue Training Center, located at 7120 Granby Street in Norfolk at 9 a.m. Parking is available at Granby High School. Registration is required, and can be completed online.
