VIRGINIA BEACH — Residents with special projects, businesses or contractors that need trash or recyclables picked up in Virginia Beach or Norfolk can request service with a couple swipes and finger taps with Bay Disposal & Recycling’s new app.
Allison McCormick, customer service coordinator, said there was a need to streamline customer interactions throughout the company’s network with new technology.
“In this day and age, do you like to pick up the phone and get a recording, or even have to wait for a live person when you’re right on the job site?” McCormick said. “The app makes it so simple for so many of our customers.”
Customers can use the app to place orders, schedule pickups, receive special offers or see where its facilities are located, according to a press release.
McCormick said the orders can range from emptying trash carts to industrial-sized waste containers. Its customers can range from large construction sites, apartment communities, local retail shops and residents working on projects.
“It’s not difficult, and it’s in regular language, not industry language,” McCormick said about the app’s options.
Once a customers submits a request for service, McCormick said the typical turnaround time is about five minutes. Depending on the complexity of the waste collection, it could take about 30 to 45 minutes if a sales representative is involved.
Prices to pick up waste vary on a case by case basis, according to McCormick.
Bay Disposal & Recycling is a private company that operates from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach and Emporia down to Hatteras Island, N.C.
