Tidewater Community College recognized for rewarding degrees to minority students

VIRGINIA BEACH — Tidewater Community College was recently named by the publication “Diverse: Issues in Higher Education” as one of the top producers of associate degrees among minority students in the 2014-15 school year.

TCC ranks 42nd among all minority groups, earning  5th place in in awarded associate degrees in social sciences and 31st in awarded associate degrees in business, management, marketing, and other related services.

The college was also named 18th in awarded associate degrees to African American students. African Americans make up more than a quarter of of annual TCC graduates.

The publication used data from the U.S. Department of Education to develop the list, according to TCC.
