Yorktown’s annual Art at the River Juried Art Show takes place on May 7, but an important deadline for artists wishing to participate will arrive before the end of January.
Artists must submit their applications by Jan. 30, according to a press release from the Art at the River Committee. The application fee is $30 and the application can be found at York County’s website.
Artists must provide digital copies of their work and mail a completed application and a $30 check, as stipulated on the application. Invitations to participate in Art at the River will be issued to selected artists on Feb. 27, according to the release.
Categories of artwork acceptable for submission can be found on the application and include watercolor, pastel, photography, woodwork, pottery, jewelry and glass. All artwork displayed must be available for sale.
The fourth-annual juried art show is free and open to the public. Pencil & charcoal artist and teacher Mary Lee Ruff and glass artist and teacher Ali Rogan will judge submitted artwork, and show guests can vote to decide a “People’s Choice” winner.
In addition to the $30 application fee, a space fee of $125 dollars will be due after acceptance into Art at the River.
Art at the River will be held between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown.
