Snow days rescheduled for Virginia Beach schools

snowVirginia Beach students may have thought they were getting a few extra days of winter vacation last week when school was canceled due to snow; however, officials announced Friday that classes will be made up later in the school year.

Students will attend school on Feb. 20 and March 8 – two days they were previously out of classes – to make up for some of the missed time.

Another other school days that might be missed this year for inclement weather could be made up by adding minutes to the student’s school days, according to a Virginia Beach Public Schools news release.

“We have experienced extraordinary weather events this school year,” Superintendent Aaron Spence said in the release. “From flooding and the hurricane in the fall to our most recent winter storm, the impact on our community has been almost without precedent. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our parents and staff as we adjust the schedule to comply with State law.”
