Police are searching for a 20-year-old man wanted for trespassing onto a yard in James City County. Authorities are advising that, due to the suspect’s past record, the public should assume the man is armed.
According to Stephanie Williams, spokesperson for the James City County Police Department, Sharif Hassan Hill is wanted for a misdemeanor charge of trespassing after crossing into a woman’s yard on Williamson Drive.
Hill has repeatedly crossed into the woman’s yard and recently posted a video of himself trespassing into the yard on Facebook, Williams said.
“He cuts through that yard routinely and she has told him not to cut through that yard,” Williams said. “He made a video of himself cutting through the yard with her yelling at him and it was shared multiple times.”
Williams said the video has since been removed from Facebook, but police are working to confirm its authenticity.
“We can’t be certain that the trespassing act in the video is the same one reported,” Williams said. “We believe so, but it’s not certain…The victim has said that he cuts through her yard all the time and in the video he states that he cuts through her yard all the time, but we can’t be sure it’s the same scenario.”
If the public has any information that might help police locate Hill, they are encouraged to call 757-253-1800 or text/email tips@jamescitycountyva.gov.
