Williamsburg man dies in overnight crash on Airport Road

A Williamsburg resident was killed after driving his vehicle into a tree on Airport Road in James City County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Virginia State Police, officers were called to investigate the crash at approximately 1:08 a.m.

Police found that a 2004 Ford Taurus, driven by Tuck Burnette, 33, of Williamsburg, was travelling eastbound on Airport Road, ran off the road and struck a tree.

According to State Police, Burnette was not wearing his safety belt, and alcohol is suspected as a causative factor in the crash. Notification has been made to the family.
