Local government offices closed for Veterans Day

veterans_day_pr_war_memorial_picture_102815-450x300Government offices and facilities across the Historic Triangle will be closed Friday, Nov. 11, to mark Veterans Day.

The closings are not the same in every jurisdiction, so check before you head to a library, park or recreaction center. Better yet, take a look at the list we’ve put together.

Williamsburg

The Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., will be closed, along with the Quarterpath Recreation Center and the Williamsburg/James City County Courthouse.

Waller Mill Park will be open as usual. Both branches of the Williamsburg Regional Library will be open.

Anyone with a water emergency on Nov. 11 should call 757-220-6196.

James City County

County government offices and courts will be closed.

The James City County Recreation Center and the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center will be open.

Libraries will be open, too, along with the county’s convenience centers and garbage transfer station.

York County

Government offices, courts, libraries and York-Poquoson Social Services will be closed.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Office will be open.

Collection of garbage and recyclables will not be affected.

The compost facility, citizen drop-off centers and transfer station, 145 Goodwin Neck Rd., will be open. The York County Waste Management Center’s administrative offices will be closed.
