For families looking to experience the less spooky aspects of Halloween, the Virginia Living Museum is offering an alternative to ghouls, goblins and gore.
According to a press release from the museum, the 17th annual Night of the Living Museum will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The VLM invites guests of all ages to dress as their favorite animal or character for a Halloween celebration that is meant to include — and not scare — young children.
Attendees will be treated to pumpkin carvings, live animal shows, myth busters and trail walks. Children will be able to trick-or-treat, play Halloween games, make arts and crafts and visit tooth fairyland, pirate cove and a magical cave.
Condensed showings of the laser show “Fright Light” will be held at 5, 5:45, 6:30, and 7:15 p.m. and will feature music from bands such as The Who, Black Sabbath and more. Guests can grab a bite to eat at the Wild Side Café and the Wild Things Museum Store, both of which will be open all evening.
Night of the Living Museum tickets are $10 per person for VLM members and $13 non-members. Children ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult and children ages two and under will be admitted for free.
