Williamsburg man killed in motorcycle crash on I-64

Virginia State Police LogoA 21-year-old from Williamsburg was killed on Interstate 64 in New Kent County Sunday afternoon, according to a news release from the Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred at 3:30 p.m., near the 213 mile marker of I-64.

A 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling west on the interstate and changing lanes at a high rate of speed when it struck the rear of a 2016 Dodge Journey, also traveling westbound on I-64, the release stated.

The motorcyclist, Jarrett M. Schoerner, 21, of Williamsburg, was thrown from the bike and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.

The two-vehicle crash remains under investigation.
