The Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Department has parents covered when it comes to working out.

Parents now can attend fitness classes, such as Zumba, yoga and strength training, without having to find babysitter.

For the first time, the department is offering drop-in child care during the sessions for $5 a visit. The fitness classes are offered free of charge this week, during the launch of the program.

The child care is available for children between the ages of 3 and 8. Participants in the fitness classes must be at least 13.

Also new are additional classes taught by Crossfit instructors. These classes will involve high-intensity interval training.

A new “Aqua Flow” class also will be available this year. The class, which will be open to all ages, will focus on cardiovascular training and will include moderate yoga and pilates.

Rates and times for these and other classes can be found on the city website.
