The railroad crossing on Airport Road will be closed to vehicle traffic all day Wednesday.
The closure will stretch from the Richmond Road intersection to the Mooretown Road intersection, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Cars will not be able to cross the tracks from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. while CSX crews complete repair work.
Crews will level out the crossing to provide a smoother ride for drivers, particularly as they approach the tracks, said CSX spokeswoman Laura Phelps.
Motorists trying to access Richmond Road should follow Mooretown Road to Waller Mill Road as a detour. To access Mooretown Road, drivers should take Richmond Road to Waller Mill.
