Williamsburg Area Transit Authority is providing additional trolley service this Monday to accommodate Independence Day crowds.

WATA will have trolleys running to transport passengers from parking areas in High Street and New Town to the Colonial Williamsburg area. Customers at those stops can anticipate 15 to 20 minute trolley service frequency.

Three different trolleys will be running to transport people along the route, with one trolley following its normal route, one operating express service from Legacy Hall in New Town to the historic area and one operating express service from High Street to the historic area.

In addition to the existing trolley stop at High Street, WATA will service a temporary stop near the High Street Parking Garage, which offers free parking to the public.

The trolley following its normal route will begin at 12:00 p.m. and run until 11:00 p.m. as scheduled. The two express trolleys will begin at 6:00 p.m.

The trolleys will be utilizing William & Mary’s Ewell Circle, located on Jamestown Road across from the Undergraduate Admissions Office, as the downtown drop-off and pick-up location for passengers.

WATA will also provide additional buses to assist in returning passengers to the designated parking areas following the fireworks display.

The standard trolley fare is $1.00 per person for a round-trip, and passengers are asked to bring exact change.
