VIRGINIA BEACH — The city library wants to display the “Images of Hampton Roads” as depicted by artists for a month.
The department is accepting applications from artists to have their work added to an art exhibit under that name, which will be displayed throughout September. All two-dimensional pieces — including photographs, collages, drawings and paintings — will be considered and selected through a juried process.
Works must be originals and depict “places or distinctive aspects of southeast Virginia” and be suitable for public display, according to a release. Applicants should include with their submission a brief letter describing up to three works for consideration, images of them and contact information.
The exhibit will be displayed at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. June 24. Submissions can be hand-delivered to the library; emailed to Robert Kennedy, volunteer art gallery coordinator, at Rkennedy@vbgov.com; or mailed to the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, Va., 23452, in the care of Kennedy.
