James City County has announced two of the three acts it has booked for its inaugural summer concert series at Jamestown Beach.
The series, called “Fourth Fridays,” will kick off June 24 with two performers, Rayvon Owen and Joey Cook with her band, the Partyraddlers. Virginia natives Owen and Cook both were contestants on the American Idol singing competition in 2015.
Owen, who is from Richmond, performs pop and soul music, while Cook and her band are based in Woodbridge and play a mix of folk, jazz and alternative.
The second show in the series, slated for July 22, will feature Harley Boone, a Richmond-based band that blends country, bluegrass and rock.
The series’ final concert will be on Aug. 26. That evening’s featured performer will be announced at a later date.
At each concert, admission will begin at 5 p.m. and performers will take the stage at 6 p.m. The concerts will be held on the field within the Jamestown Beach Event Park.
Admission to “Fourth Fridays” shows will cost $20 per car at the park gate; cash and checks will be accepted.
Parking for the concerts will be behind the old Jamestown Campground building at 2205 Jamestown Beach Event Park, which is adjacent to Jamestown Settlement.
No outside alcohol will be permitted, but attendees can purchase beer and wine on site. Picnic baskets will be subject to inspection before attendees can enter. Food will be available for purchase from food truck vendors.
Pets are not permitted, but service animals will be allowed.
Attendees are encouraged to bring low-profile, beach-style chairs to the concerts, but not tall lawn chairs.
Beachgoers who wish to see the show but have already paid to park on site still will have to pay the $20 admission fee.
