Authorities seek kitten that bit person on docked ferry boat

The Peninsula Health District is looking for a kitten that bit a person on the “Surry” ferry May 29 while the boat was docked at 2110 Jamestown Road in James City County.

The kitten is described as orange and white and is “very tiny.”

Since the kitten’s rabies status is unknown, the victim may have to undergo post-exposure treatment, including shots for the prevention of rabies, if the kitten is not found.

Once found, the kitten will not be taken away from its owner. But it will be placed on in-home confinement for 10 days.

Anyone who has seen a kitten that fits this description in this area is asked to contact the Peninsula Health District – Newport News Environmental Health office at 757-594-7340.

After regular business hours, contact the Newport News/Poquoson, York County or James City County/Williamsburg animal control office.
