Watch: City Council Candidates Address Student, College Issues in First Forum

Four of the five candidates running for Williamsburg City Council attended a town hall at the College of William & Mary that was largely focused on how the candidates viewed council’s role in tackling campus issues.

Hosted by the student-run newspaper The Flat Hat and the political action committee Student Caucus, the town hall featured Vice Mayor Paul Freiling, college professor Elaine McBeth, lifelong resident Greg Granger and William & Mary senior Benming “Benny” Zhang.

William & Mary alumna Barbara Ramsey was unable to attend due to a conflict in her schedule.

Voters will choose from the five candidates to fill three seats in the May 3 election.

The town hall in the Sadler Center streamed live on Flat Hat’s Facebook page, garnering an online audience of 213 as it aired.

All five candidates will participate in the League of Women Voters of the Williamsburg Area Candidates Forum at 7 p.m. today at the Williamsburg Regional Library.
