The York County Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants to fill an upcoming vacancy representing District 3 on the York County Planning Commission.
Commissioner Timothy D. McCulloch’s term expires in June, and he is not seeking reappointment.
Interested York County residents can apply online or pick up an application at the County Administrator’s Office at 224 Ballard St. in Yorktown. Applicants can also apply online on the county website, click Fast Finds and then click Boards/Commissions.
The Planning Commission serves as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors on planning and development issues affecting the county.
It is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the Board on rezoning and special-use permit applications, proposed amendments to development ordinances or policies, and other development approvals that require action by the Board of Supervisors.
In addition, the Commission is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the Board on the county’s comprehensive plan.
The Planning Commission is made up of seven members, one from each election district and two at-large members. The length of term for appointees is four years.
The Planning Commission meets the second Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in York Hall. Meetings are televised on WYCG-TV – Cox Channel 46, Verizon Channel 38.
