Jason Purse, James City County’s zoning administrator and a Williamsburg native, has been promoted to assistant county administrator.
He replaces Adam Kinsman, who was appointed county attorney in February.
As assistant county administrator, Purse will be a main point of contact for the Board of Supervisors on county-wide issues, represent the county on boards and commissions and manage long-range strategic plans and projects, according to a county press release.
Purse, who was born and raised in Williamsburg and graduated from Lafayette High School, said he is excited to “pave the way” for his own daughter to have “a good time growing up here as well.”
“I’ve been able to see the county change from my time in school and my time growing up, and I just love working with the community and being able to interact with citizens,” Purse said.
Purse was hired by the county in 2005 as a planner and was promoted to zoning administrator in 2013. He received his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and his master’s in in Public Administration from Old Dominion University.
