Bruce Hornsby fans will have four chances to see him perform in Williamsburg this summer.
The Grammy-winning musician will perform a solo benefit concert then headline all three nights of Funhouse Fest – a weekend of shows, curated by Hornsby himself, that will include performances by Ricky Skaggs, Shawn Colvin, Steve Earle and Taj Mahal Trio – as part of Virginia Arts Festival’s 20th anniversary season.
The Funhouse Fest shows will be held on the lawn of the Arts Museums of Colonial Williamsburg.
Three-day passes to the Funhouse Fest are available on presale at 10 a.m. today through 10 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are on sale to the general public starting at 10 a.m. March 4. A limited number of single-day tickets will go on sale in late April.
Hornsby last performed in Williamsburg in May as part of 92.3FM The Tide’s 10th anniversary celebration at Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre.
“I can’t imagine a better way to wrap up Virginia Arts Festival 20th season celebration than a three-day jam with Bruce and the amazing lineup of artists he has invited to our Funhouse Fest,” said Virginia Arts Festival Perry Artistic Director Robert Cross. “It’s a dream come true.”
The weekend kicks off with a solo concert from Hornsby at Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall at the College of William and Mary on Thursday, June 23. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg, Shakespeare Festival and Virginia Arts Festival’s educational outreach program.
A limited number of tickets to the solo show are available for $25 to $35 with the purchase of a three-day festival pass.
Funhouse Fest, named for Hornsby’s 1998 song Funhouse, begins with opening act Greensky Bluegrass ahead of a performance from Hornsby and Ricky Skaggs with Kentucky Thunder at 8 p.m. Friday, June 24.

After a lineup of performances Saturday that includes Colvin and Earle, Railroad Earth and Jack DeJohnette, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers will perform The Way It Is and the upcoming Rehab Reunion albums in their entirety.
Hornsby will again headline the festival on Sunday following shows from The Taj Mahal Trio, Aoife O’Donovan and Chessboxer.
“I’d like to thank Rob Cross and the Virginia Arts Festival for reaching out to us with the idea to collaborate on what has now become the Funhouse Fest,” said Hornsby, who is an investor in WYDaily’s parent company, Local Voice. “We’ve mulled the “festival” idea for three or four years now; our idea was to do it in Asheville, NC, one of our favorite places to play. But we never acted on it until Rob Cross got out the cattle prod and moved us in the right direction.”
