Aldi is looking to hire 10 store associates ahead of its new location opening in the City of Williamsburg mid-spring.

The discount grocery store will host a job fair Wednesday at the Hilton Garden Inn on Richmond Road. The fair will take place in two sessions, from 7 a.m. to noon then 2 to 7 p.m.

The store is slated to open in mid-spring at 1508 Richmond Road, where the former Governor Spottswood Motel stood.

Aldi, which offers starting wages at $11.35/hr., is looking to hire about 10 associates. Employees who average more than 25 hours a week are eligible for health insurance, and all employees are able to participate in the 401(k) program.

“As an employer of choice, Aldi has a strong track record of paying our employees market-leading wages and offering them benefits well above minimum wage requirements,” said Jeff Baehr, vice president of Aldi’s Frederick Division. “In fact, we offer our employees generous compensation that is higher than other grocery retailers in the market. We also reward our employees with frequent salary increases based on length of service, which is one way we recruit and retain the best and brightest talent.”

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, able to lift 45 pounds and work between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. Mondays through Sundays. Retail experience is preferred.

A drug screening and background check will be required.

Aldi has nearly 1,500 stores in the U.S. across 32 states.
