A section of Jolly Pond Road will close starting Monday so the road’s wooden bridge can be re-decked.
The wood deck and railings of the bridge, which goes over the Jolly Pond Road Dam, will be replaced and paved over, said James City County General Services Director John Horne.
“It should actually be much smoother for folks once we’re finished,” Horne said.
The bridge work is scheduled maintenance and is unrelated to the Jan. 22 snow or previous issues with the dam, Horne said.
Schools and public safety officials have been notified of the closure. Horne said no residents on Jolly Pond Road are land-locked by the closure, as the road is a loop.
The road will reopen Feb. 11.
