National Weather Service has declared a winter storm warning for James City County, York County and the City of Williamsburg, effective 7 a.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday. It’s affected all public and many private schools in the area, along with some government offices.

Schools
William & Mary is closing at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 22. The women’s basketball game will be played tonight as scheduled but Saturday’s men’s basketball game at Hofstra has been moved to noon Sunday. Swem Library will be open until 8 p.m. Friday, and will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Thomas Nelson Community College will close at 2 p.m. and classes at the Williamsburg and Hampton campuses are cancelled.
WJCC and York County public schools are closed today, Jan. 22.
All activities in York County public schools have been canceled for tomorrow, Jan. 23, as well.
In WJCC schools, end-of-course high school SOL retakes will be rescheduled.
The SAT testing sessions scheduled for Saturday at Lafayette High School and Grafton High School have been cancelled. A make-up date is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 20, and College Board will be contacting students by e-mail.
In both school divisions, final exams will be administered as previously scheduled beginning Tuesday and, as scheduled, Monday will be a “B” day.
Williamsburg Christian Academy, Walsingham Academy, Providence Classical School and Williamsburg Montessori School have also canceled classes for Friday.
Hampton Roads Academy lower school will have an early dismissal on Friday at 11:15 a.m. Middle and upper school will dismiss at 11:30 a.m.
All sporting events for WJCC and York County Public Schools, as well as Hampton Roads Academy, Williamsburg Christian Academy and Walsingham Academy have been canceled for Friday.
Government
York County – Offices are closing at noon today, Friday, Jan. 22.
The Senior Center of York is closing at noon on Friday.
City of Williamsburg– Offices are closing at noon Friday. City Council has moved its budget retreat from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Quarterpath Recreation Center and Waller Mill Park are closed Friday and Saturday.
Tabb and Yorktown Libraries closed at noon Friday. Paws to Read, which was scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Yorktown Library is canceled.
Williamsburg Regional Library – All facilities are closing at 1 p.m. Friday. The Celebration of Acoustic Music concert scheduled for this evening has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.
James City County – All offices and facilities are closing at 1 p.m. Friday. The Board of Supervisors Budget Retreat will take place as scheduled at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 23.
The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority has suspended all bus service as of 2 p.m.
Courts
Williamsburg/James City County Courthouse – All Williamsburg/James City County Courts (Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations) will be closed today, Friday, Jan. 22, due to the impending weather. In addition, the entire Courthouse building will be closed.
York-Poquoson Courthouse – The entire courthouse will be closed today, Friday, Jan. 22, due to the impending weather. All cases on the docket today will be continued.
Businesses
Chesapeake Bank – All branches will close at noon Friday.
TowneBank‘s Williamsburg branches will close at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Buggy Bathe is closing at 1 p.m. Friday.
Langley Federal Credit Union branches will close at 3 p.m. Friday.
Studio South is closing at noon Friday.
Oceans and Ale will be closed Friday.
Zaxby’s is closed as of 2 p.m.
Williamsburg Premium Outlets are closed as of 2 p.m. A decision has not been made on Saturday business hours.
Kimball Theatre is closed Friday night.
Attractions
Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center will be closed Friday, Jan. 22.
Colonial Williamsburg‘s Historic Area and shops are closed Friday. The Art Museums at Colonial Williamsburg are also closed, though the woodworking workshop and museum store will remain open. Chowing’s Tavern is also closed.
Events
Williamsburg Community Chapel has cancelled all programs on Friday.
Hampton Roads Academy’s production of “Willy Wonka, Jr.” for Friday night has been cancelled. The Saturday performance is still expected to take place.
Williamsburg’s Got Talent has been postponed. A new date has not yet been announced.
The Williamsburg Symphonia’s “Cabaret and Cocktails” has been postponed. A new date has not been announced.
The Richmond Endurance Athlete Symposium is canceled. Refunds will be issued.
