The case against five people accused in the rape of a 16-year-old girl that they recorded in Quarterpath Park last summer has yielded three guilty pleas.
Three of the four teenage boys arrested last fall in connection with the June incident have pleaded guilty, Commonwealth’s Attorney Nate Green said. They have also been sentenced, but Green said the details of those sentences will not be released because they are under 18 years old.
One of the juveniles has a hearing scheduled in February.
Korey Alexander Gemmiti, a 20-year-old James City County man who is accused of videotaping the assault, recently waived his preliminary hearing and will face a grand jury Jan. 20 in Williamsburg-James City County Circuit Court.
The four juveniles – three 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old – were arrested Oct. 23 after a police investigation linked them to the June sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in Quarterpath Park. Gemmiti was arrested three days later.
The girl reported she had been hanging out with her friends in the park in the evening of June 8. At one point, she walked into a wooded area with one of her male friends when several other males surrounded them.
She said two of the boys raped her, while one videotaped the incident. The teenagers and Gemmiti later shared the video with each other.
The friend who walked with her into the woods is among the accused.
The girl reported the incident to Williamsburg Police that same night.
Petitions charged two of the juveniles with rape and possession of child pornography. A third juvenile is charged with one count each of possession and distribution of child pornography. The fourth juvenile is charged with two counts of accessory before the fact for rape and possession of child pornography.
Gemmiti is charged with one count of production of child pornography, three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
