The Hound’s Tale, a new restaurant and bar created by the owners of Aromas coffeehouse, is officially open to the public after a successful soft opening.
The restaurant, which opened last night at 515 Prince George St., features affordable “fresh bites” such as mini “haut dawgs” and a thrice baked potato, entrée “chow” like curried gnocchi and roasted organic chicken and “great spirits,” including beer on tap from AleWerks Brewing Company.
Don Pratt, co-owner of Aromas coffeehouse and bakery on Prince George Street, said in July the vision of the Hound’s Tale is to offer a “fun, casual environment that is going to … address a need in the community or a niche in the community that isn’t being served right now.”
Two soft openings earlier this week drew more than 70 people each night, said lead bartender Nick Rackley. The restaurant debuted its full menu to invited guests during its last soft opening event Thursday night.
“We’re pushing right through,” Rackley said. “Everyone has a big smile on their face and is happy to be here and open.”
Geri Pratt, also a co-owner of Aromas, said they heard positive feedback during the preview nights and a “nice mix of people” have come through the restaurant.
Tonight, the Hound’s Tale will feature a live performance from Hampton-based duo Lovecats. Rackley said the restaurant hopes to offer live music regularly.
The Hound’s Tale will be closed Sunday and Monday but will reopen Tuesday. Regular hours are listed below:
Tuesdays through Thursdays: 4 to 9 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays: 4 p.m. to midnight
Sundays: 4 to 9 p.m.
Mondays: Closed
