York County Parks Switch to Winter Hours

New Quarter ParkYork County is preparing for the colder months of the year by announcing winter hours for various park sites around the locality.

The tennis office at Back Creek Park will be closed through March 20. The tennis courts are available for free play during this time period by calling 757-890-3500 to obtain gate lock combinations.

McReynolds Athletic Complex will have reduced hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Feb. 29. The complex will remain open past 5 p.m. when required to do so for the conclusion of scheduled activities.

The National Park Service Beach Picnic Area will be closed to all vehicular traffic through March 31, but will remain open to pedestrians and bicycle riders until dusk each day during that time period. The restrooms will be closed.

New Quarter Park will only be open on weekends from now through the end of April. Visitors on foot or bicycle can enjoy the park from 10 a.m. to dusk Fridays and from 8 a.m. to dusk Saturdays and Sundays, but vehicles cannot be driven into the park.

Park staff will be on site during operating hours and restrooms will remain open. Clubs and organizations that wish to use the park for field trips and social events outside of regular hours can arrange to do so by calling 757-890-3513.

The public piers, dockmaster’s office and restroom building at Riverwalk Landing will be closed now through March 31. Dockage will still be available during this time but all water and utilities will be shut off. To get in touch with the dockmaster about reservation requests through March call 757-890-3370.

Both Wolf Trap Park and Chisman Creek Park are open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through March 31.

All parks are subject to closure in the case of inclement weather.
