Residents of James City County can dispose of their fall leaves free of charge from Nov. 9 through 22 and from Jan. 2 through 17 at the Jolly Pond Convenience Center.

Leaves will only be accepted in clear bags no larger 40 gallons. Brush and tree limbs are not included in the free collection.

Commercial lawn service companies are allowed to drop off leaves as long as they provide the Convenience Center staff with a letter from the resident the leaves were collected from containing the resident’s name, address and telephone number.

The Convenience Center is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At times outside of the free leaf disposal windows, leaves may be self-hauled into the Convenience Center by using coupons available at the Treasurer’s Office, Satellite Services, Freedom Park, the James City County Recreation Center, the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center or online. One coupon per four 40-gallon bags is required.

In addition to leaf drop-off, the county will provide one round of curbside leaf collection. Collection dates are determined by voting district. Bagged leaves must be left curbside by 8 a.m. on the first day of collection in each district. Each street will be collected one time only. Bulky materials such as brush and tree limbs cannot be accepted.

The Berkeley and Roberts districts will undergo collection from Dec. 1 through 7. The Jamestown and South Powhatan districts will have curbside pick-up from Dec. 7 through 14. Stonehouse and North Powhatan districts are scheduled collection from Dec. 14 through 16. Click here for maps of the voting districts.
