An armed robber took money from the Hardee’s on Second Street for the second time in the past month, deputies said.

A man, armed with a box cutter, entered the Hardee’s on the 500 block of Second Street around 5:29 a.m. Monday, forced employees to open the safe, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money, according to a news release from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect is described as a tall black man with a slender build, which is a similar description for the suspect in last month’s robbery at the same fast food restaurant.

Witnesses said he was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and covered his face with a green bandanna in Monday’s incident.

YPSO deputies are investigating whether Hardee’s robberies are connected with a similar robbery at a Burger King on Jefferson Avenue in Newport News, which occurred about 90 minutes after the incident at Hardee’s Monday.
