A stuffed animal emporium is open for business in James City County.

Build-A-Bear Workshop celebrated its grand opening in the Premium Outlets with a ribbon cutting Aug. 12.

The store is known nationally for allowing children of all ages the chance to design and construct their own stuffed ursine companion.

The Overland, Mo.-based company operates more than 400 stores across the country and around the world.

The new store will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Premium Outlets location is the first Build-A-Bear franchise in the greater Williamsburg area. The nearest locations are in Short Pump near Richmond and at Peninsula Town Center in Hampton.

Correction 8/24/2015: This story has been updated. A previous version indicated Build-A-Bear stores were largely franchised.
