The installation of new playground equipment at Charles Brown Park in York County has been completed.
The new treehouse-themed structure was designed to be accessible to all children, including those with physical disabilities.
The ground-based elements allow children in wheelchairs to be included in play, according to a news release from the county.
“We are excited and pleased to be able to provide children with a safe and interactive playground at Charles Brown Park,” said Parks, Recreation & Tourism Manager Brian Fuller. “Play is essential for a child’s health and well-being and we believe this new playground equipment can assist in healthy development.”
In addition to the new playground, the park has also seen the recent installation of two new picnic tables with shelters.
“The new shelters and tables round out the park’s offerings, making a more inviting place for families to spend time,” said Mark Bellamy, director of general services.
Charles Brown Park, open daily, is located on 10 acres along Route 238 in Lackey.
In addition to the playground area and picnic shelter, the park also offers a baseball field, two tennis courts, two basketball courts and a Community Services Center.
