Original Post: Emergency responders are on scene at a fire at Lumber Liquidators in Toano.
Billy Apperson of the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department said a fire was discovered in a dust handling unit. Firefighters are working to open the unit to determine the size of the fire.
Firefighters responded to the incident at 10:27 a.m. and remain on scene. Apperson said he expects it will take “some time” to quell the blaze.
The fire must be fought carefully as the dusts in the unit will burn quickly if exposed to the right atmospheric conditions.
Lumber Liquidators is located in the Stonehouse Industrial Park near Toano. The company’s corporate headquarters is located there along with a more than 300,000-square-foot production center.
