A New Kent County business that buys wholesale lots of clothes from dozens of brands and then sells them out of a storefront has relocated to James City County.

Snag A Deal was located near Colonial Downs, but the business had outgrown the space it had there and wanted a location with more traffic. The solution to those issues came in the form of a space in Williamsburg Pavilion Shops in Lightfoot.

“We thought we fit in well with the other shops,” said Stephanie Stark, one of the store’s owners. She said there are several other “bargain-hunter type stores” in the shopping center, which together make an appealing destination.

Stark runs the store with her mother, sister and two nieces. Those five family members make up the entire staff of the family-run operation.

She described the store as a “resale shop.” They go out and buy clothing by the truckload from major brands and then sell it out of the storefront.

“A lot of folks want to call it consignment, but it’s not,” she said.

Though most of the merchandise comes from overstocked retailers, they also buy used clothing in “like-new condition.”

She described the store as a “miniature Ross or TJ Maxx” that sells many of the brands in the Premium Outlets, like Chicos and White House Black Market.

She said people around Lightfoot seem to enjoy supporting small businesses, another factor that attracted her to the area.

The store sells clothing for both genders. There are accessories, clothes for children and plus sizes available, as well.

Snag A Deal is located at 6508 Richmond Road and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
