The only Great American Cookies location in the Historic Triangle is now open in New Town.

Great American Cookies celebrated its grand opening Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Owner Brandi Walker talked about opening a franchise of some kind with her husband, Justin, from the time they were married about nine years ago.

The couple moved to Williamsburg more than two years ago, and they began narrowing their franchise search upon arriving here. They eventually selected Great American Cookies as the perfect franchise for them, and opened their new store on Main Street.

“When my husband and I grew up, we always had cookie cakes from Great American Cookies,” Walker said. “We thought it would bring something fun to Williamsburg and especially to New Town.”

Aside from offering customized cookie cakes, sweets fans can find a variety of smaller cookies and brownies in the store on a daily basis. Coca-Cola products, ICEEs and coffee are also available for purchase.

The store is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and noon-6 p.m. Sundays.

“We’re excited to be here. We can’t wait to serve James City County, Williamsburg and the surrounding areas,” Walker said.
