A new medical clinic has opened in the CVS/pharmacy store at 1600 Richmond Road.
MinuteClinic, a retail-based walk-in medical clinic began operations at the Richmond Road CVS on July 9. The Williamsburg location joins several other new locations in southeastern Virginia, including Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Hampton.
According to a news release issued by MinuteClinic, the clinic is staffed by nurse practitioners, who can treat and write prescriptions for common illnesses, including strep throat, ear, eye and sinus infections. The clinic also offers physical examinations for team sports and college enrollment, along with vaccination services, including influenza, tetanus and Hepatitis A and B.
“Since opening our first store-based clinic in Virginia in 2007, we have helped to expand access to high-quality, convenient and affordable care to thousands of residents who have visited us at CVS/pharmacy locations near where they live and work,” Dr. Andrew Sussman, MinuteClinic president and senior vice president/associate chief medical officer of CVS, said in the release.
The clinic is open daily with varying hours. Weekday service is available from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays. Weekend hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sundays.
MinuteClinic is a subsidiary of CVS Caremark, which operates CVS pharmacies in the U.S. It debuted in 2000, and currently has more than 800 locations in 28 states and the District of Columbia.
