Handyman Accused of Forging Stolen Checks For More Than $1,000

A 23-year-old James City County man is facing 16 felony charges in Williamsburg after he allegedly forged stolen checks and cashed them.

Maj. Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department said Everette Lamar Marsh Jr. was working as a handyman in a home in the city. A resident in the home reported May 19 several of his checks were stolen and forged by Marsh and then cashed at the Wells Fargo on Richmond Road.

The checks totaled $1,500. None of the money has been recovered.

Riley said police obtained warrants charging Marsh on Monday, however officers were unable to serve the warrants because Marsh is currently serving time in North Carolina on an unrelated matter.
