Williamsburg Artist Hosting Painting Demonstrations at Busch Gardens

Williamsburg resident and artist Carolee Vitaletti will host painting demonstrations and showcase her artwork at Busch Gardens’ Das Festhaus through Sunday.

Vitaletti is a self-taught artist who has been painting since the eighth grade. After touring the graphic design department at IBM, where her father worked, she decided to pursue a degree in graphic design at Rochester Institute of Technology. For 14 years, Vitaletti worked as a graphic designer then spent time painting commissioned murals. After she earned a teaching degree, she began working as a part-time teacher at Berkeley Middle School, where she remains.

But now, Vitaletti wants to paint full time.

“I’ve reached a point in my life where I really feel like this is something I want to keep going with,” Vitaletti said.

She says she loves art that inspires happiness and, in return, she feels happy creating the work.

While preparing prints of her work for the Busch Gardens display, she was contacted by a Richmond publisher who wants to produce and sell her work. Now in contract negotiations, Vitaletti is taking a one-day-at-a-time approach to her pursuit of an artist’s career.
