Pavilion Mental Health Facility Now Accredited

The Pavilion, a 57-bed psychiatric hospital, opened in April.

The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place has been awarded accreditation, giving the new facility the ability to seek contractual relationships with all major insurance companies.

The facility, which opened in April, is a 57-bed psychiatric hospital serving residents, 18 and over, in the Historic Triangle. The Pavilion earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating compliance with the commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in behavioral health care.

A team of Joint Commission surveyors evaluated The Pavilion in July 2012, exploring its compliance with standards of care, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

“Joint Commission accreditation provides us a framework to take our organization to the next level and helps create a culture of excellence,” said Marsha Obremski, executive director, in a press release. “Achieving Joint Commission accreditation, for our organization, is a major step toward maintaining excellence and continually improving the care we provide.”

By allowing The Pavilion to seek contractual relationships with insurance companies, accreditation gives the facility the ability to serve more patients and families in need and active-duty military and dependents.

The Pavilion serves patients state-wide who require acute short-term stabilization from mental health issues, a service that was shifted to community organizations away from the state’s mental hospitals. The Pavilion features a 22-bed Geriatric Unit designed to serve the older adult population, and additional programs are being designed to treat active-duty military and their dependents.

It is located on the campus of Williamsburg Place, where the Farley Center treats adults with alcohol and/or drug dependencies.
