WILLIAMSBURG — The League of Women Voters of the Williamsburg Area will again sponsor its popular Foreign Policy Association series, Great Decisions, in 2025.

The league said the program will run from Feb. 4 through March 25 for eight sessions. Each week, registrants will have the option of joining on Zoom or in person at the Williamsburg Library auditorium at 10:30 a.m.

“We are excited to present Great Decisions 2025,” said chairperson Dennis Litalien. “With a timely and stimulating array of topics chosen by the Foreign Policy Association and dynamic subject matter experts presenting each topic, we look forward to another excellent season.”

The topics and presenters for this year’s program include:

  • Feb. 4 — U.S.-China Relations — Professor Samantha Custer, Director of Policy Analysis at AidData
  • Feb. 11 — AI and American National Security — Professor Eric Brown, Senior Research Scientist at GRI
  • Feb. 18 — The Future of NATO and European Security — Professor Stephen Flanagan, Rand Washington and Georgetown University
  • Feb. 25 — American Foreign Policy at a Crossroads — Professor Larry Wilkerson, Former Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell
  • March 4 — India: Between China, the West, and the Global South — Dagmar Graczyk, Executive with the International Energy Agency based in Paris
  • March 11 — U.S. Changing Leadership of the World Economy — Professor Shihoko Goto, an Economist with the Wilson Center, Washington D.C.
  • March 18 — International Cooperation on Climate Change — Professor Andrew Kirkpatrick, Department of Political Science, CNU
  • March 25 — After Gaza: American Policy in the Middle East — Ambassador James F. Jeffrey, former ambassador to Iraq and Turkey

“I look forward to these weekly gatherings in the winter. Those who come early can enjoy coffee and cookies and socializing, but everyone will be stimulated by learning more about the Foreign Policy Association’s top issues of the year from very knowledgeable speakers. Plus, the briefing book study guide is excellent,” said Great Decisions co-chair Abra Smith.

The cost for an individual is $75 and includes a briefing book published by the Foreign Policy Association. Family/household registrations are $100. There will be scheduled times for registrants to pick up their booklets in January to allow time to read on the topics prior to the sessions, the League assured.

Registration is open now on the League of Women Voters website: lwvwilliamsburg.org.
