Let Here Be Light: Jewish Pride Tour Hits Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — Jewish students will receive a warm welcome for the new academic year as the Jewish Pride tour visits William & Mary on Sept. 22 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Sunken Garden.

According to Mendy Heber, Chabad Rabbi at William & Mary, the Let Here Be Light tour — a carnival celebrating Jewish life and culture — is organized by Chabad on Campus in order to beam positive vibes and uplift Jewish students after the challenging climate they faced last year on campuses nationwide. With a focus on joy, Jewish pride, and positivity, the tour seeks to bring light to the entire campus and Williamsburg community, he added.

“We are so excited to host the Let Here Be Light tour,” said Rabbi Heber, director of Chabad Williamsburg. “This is a chance for students and community of all backgrounds to celebrate Jewish life with fun, hands-on, memorable experiences that will shine throughout the year.”

The tour is traveling along four routes and visiting 50 campuses throughout 18 states in the U.S. and Canada. At each stop, a branded tour van operated by rabbinical students will roll onto campus and offer Jewish craft hands-on workshops and displays, kosher food, Mitzvah giveaways, a Tefillin booth, Jewish music and raffle prizes.

This festival will also include inflatables, axe throwing, a dunk tank, and activities for all ages.
