WILLIAMSBURG — Music of Monteverdi, Gabrieli, and other Baroque-era Italian composers will highlight “Ciaconna: A Tour of Italy,” the first in a series of concerts performed by Bruton Baroque called “The Grand Tour,” to begin Thursday, Sept. 19.
Bruton Baroque is an independent organization dedicated to the performance of early music. Using Bruton Parish Church as its venue, Bruton Baroque aims to bring together professional musicians who have a passion for this historic repertory.
Bruton Baroque’s principal musicians are Baroque violinist Sophie Genevieve Lowe, Baroque cellist Ryan Lowe, and harpsichordist and organist Rebecca Davy, music director of Bruton Parish Episcopal Church.
The evening’s guest musician will be Cameron Welke, a lutenist who has performed with the Washington Bach Consort, the Folger Consort, and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra. Featured vocalists will be soprano Autry Harper, mezzo-soprano Claudia Kessel and tenor Brian Blair.
“The Grand Tour” concert series will feature a musical tour of Europe that also will include Germany (Nov. 9), Britain (April 5) and France (June 14).
The concert on Sept. 19 will start at 8 p.m. in the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church sanctuary, 201 W. Duke of Gloucester St.
All seats to the performance are $20 and can be purchased online at brutonparish.org or at the door. Season passes also are available online, with seats in the front rows reserved for season pass holders.
