WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) users can now check out passes to Virginia museums and historic sites through the library’s new Explore Virginia collection.

The Explore Virginia collection includes passes to ten Virginia museums and sites:

  • The Virginia Holocaust Museum in Richmond
  • The Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond
  • The Virginia Museum of History and Culture in Richmond
  • The Watermen’s Museum in Yorktown
  • George Washington’s Mount Vernon
  • Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest in Lynchburg
  • Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in Williamsburg
  • Stratford Hall in Montross
  • The Poe Museum in Richmond
  • The six historic sites of Preservation Virginia, with Historic Jamestowne offered at a discounted rate.

“We’re excited to debut this innovative collection that will help make museums and other destinations more accessible for everyone in our community,” said Williamsburg Regional Library Interim Director Sandy Towers. “We hope to provide more opportunities for library users to learn from and engage with the rich cultural experiences that these sites have to offer.”

According to WRL, depending on the pass type provided by the venue, users can either reserve a physical pass available for four-day checkout or print a pass on demand to be used solely on their reservation date. Admission coverage varies by destination and depending on the pass type provided. Only one pass can be checked out at a time per museum and cardholder.

Explore Virginia is part of the larger Learning to Go collection at the library, which offers users the opportunity to check out puzzles, games, craft tools, toys, and tech. For users looking for other experiences available through WRL’s Learning to Go collection, park packs with passes to Virginia state parks are also available for checkout.
