RICHMOND — “Give me liberty or give me death!”

On Feb. 18, attendees at Historic St. John’s Church in Richmond will be able to witness a reenactment of Patrick Henry convincing his fellow delegates to take up arms against the King of England.

Professional actors will portray nine delegates — including George Washington and Thomas Jefferson — who engage in the arguments of the Second Virginia Convention of March 1775, leading to Patrick Henry’s immortal words.

The visitor’s center at the Historic St. John’s Church will open at noon for walk-up ticket sales and the doors for seating will open at 1 p.m. The reenactment will start at 1:30 p.m.

After the reenactment, at 2:20 p.m., guests will be able to interact with the delegates at a meet and greet. If they so choose, guests can also then take a tour of the location at 3 p.m. and enjoy two dollars off the ticket price.

Seating is first come, first served, and a ticket is required. No food, drink, gum, candy, strollers, backpacks or firearms are permitted inside the church. Bags larger than 16 x 16 x 8 are prohibited. Any and all bags are subject to inspection. The church asks that guests leave backpacks and bags inside vehicles as the church has no way to store them.

Tickets are $15, $12 for children 12 years old and younger, and free for ages 2 and under, however, the event is not recommended for children under the age of 6.
