Upcoming Writing and Author Events at the Yorktown Library

YORKTOWN — Registration is now open for three January events at the Yorktown Library featuring award-winning authors of mysteries and thrillers.

“Fiction and Narrative Writing with Author Elle Cosimano” will kick things off on Jan. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. The workshop will be led by New York Times best-selling author Elle Cosimano, focusing on fiction and narrative storytelling. The theme of the first hour is “Developing Ideas into Stories,” with the second hour focusing on “What Makes a Story Work.” Questions are welcomed throughout the program, which is for ages 18 and up. No writing experience is necessary. The Yorktown Library also asks that all works-in-progress be left at home.

“Crime Fiction with Local Author Hugh Lessig” takes place on Jan. 13 from 2 to 3 p.m.  Local mystery author Hugh Lessig will present a talk on crime fiction, as well as his new book, “Fadeaway Joe,” which is set in Hampton Roads.

The final event, “New York Times Bestselling Author & Anthony-Award Winner S. A. Cosby In Conversation with Author Elle Cosimano” will be held on Jan. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. The event invites audience members to sit in on a conversation between authors S. A. Cosby and Elle Cosimano as they discuss Cosby’s works and the intriguing genre of crime fiction. S. A. Cosby will also be signing copies of his books following the conversation. Paperbacks Ink-All Booked Up booksellers will be on hand at the library selling copies of Cosby’s works. Attendees are asked to bring one personal copy to be signed, or buy one at the event.

All author talks will be held in the Yorktown Library Auditorium, 8500 George Washington Memorial Highway (Rt. 17). The Library notes that space wuill fill quickly, and urges those interested in attending to register early via the Library’s online events calendar found at yorkcounty.gov/library or by calling 757-890-5207.
