WILLIAMSBURG — The League of Women Voters of Williamsburg Area announced it will again sponsor the popular Foreign Policy Association series Great Decisions next year.

The topics for this year’s program include Mideast Realignment, Pandemic Preparation, NATO’s Future, Climate Technology and Competition, Understanding Indonesia, Science Across Borders, and High Seas Treaty.

“We have an excellent program for Great Decisions 2024,” said chairperson Don Schilling. “With a timely and stimulating array of topics chosen by the Foreign Policy Association and impressive experts selected to address them, participants should be well served by our hybrid program.”

The program will run from Feb. 6 through March 26 for eight sessions. Registrants will have the option each week of joining in on Zoom or in person. In-person lectures will be held at the Williamsburg Regional Library auditorium at 10:30 a.m.

“We look forward to these weekly gatherings during the winter months,” said previous participant Les Solomon. “Great Decisions brings together the best of the Foreign Policy Association’s top issues of the year, some of the best speakers from the Tidewater area  on these topics, and between 150-200 of the most thoughtful and informed participants who engage during the Q&A at the end. And the price is right!”

Solomon also noted guests sometimes come from as far as Washington, D.C., and a 10-page study guide for each topic is included.

Registration is open now on the League of Women Voters website: lwvwilliamsburg.org. The cost for an individual is $65 and includes one briefing book published by the Foreign Policy Association. Family/household registrations are $90.

There will be scheduled times for registrants to pick up their booklets in January to allow time to read on the topics before the sessions.
